The SMPL Story

The SMPL collection was curated by a first time mom, Kim, who was looking for silicone utensils that supported baby-led weaning, were safe to use on her son, and fitted her black and white minimalist aesthetic. Kim found that the market was flooded with low-grade silicone products that were often over embellished and met some but not all of her needs.

Kim was inspired to create a collection of baby eating utensils for her son that included all the features she deemed necessary for a smooth and safe baby-led weaning journey, that fit in seamlessly with her busy lifestyle and that were a pleasure to look at.

After trial and error, Kim landed on a collection of utensils that both her and her baby boy loved! Kim figured that there are many others who would appreciate a collection of baby eating utensils that does everything they need to do... nothing more, nothing less. That is how SMPL was born.

Kim wanted the name of her brand to reflect the key factors that shaped her collection: safe, minimalist, practical and lasting a.k.a., SMPL.

    Our entire collection is made of 100% food grade silicone, a non-toxic polymer that can withstand both low and high temperatures without releasing hazardous chemicals – unlike plastics, which can contaminate food in these environments. Our collection, which includes flexible rubbery material and curved edges is also less likely to result in injuries that can result from the use of hard materials such as metal, glass and wood.

  • Minimalist

    SMPL is a thoughtfully designed collection that embraces minimalism. SMPL utensils only include only the most essential features that help little ones focus more on the task at hand (eating) than their utensils. Our collection also includes a clean and simple aesthetic that can assimilate to just about any decor.

  • Practical

    Features such as flexible material, smaller frames, curved edges and thick handles make learning to eat different foods and consume different liquids safer, easier and less messy for little ones. The versatility, durability, stack-ability, store-ability and look-ability (because beauty just doesn't fit) also make our collection the go to for for caregivers.

    Our durable collection of baby eating utensils is made of some of the highest grade silicone that can survive some of the roughest conditions in the average household , making them great for passing down to siblings or repurposing around the house.
